Why PM-KUSUM Matters
This scheme helps both the Indian farmers and our environment. It reduces the total electricity demand on the local grid. Farmers cut down on diesel usage to save more money. India moves closer to its big renewable energy goals now. This program empowers rural communities with brand new green technology.
Components of PM-KUSUM
-
Component A – Farmers build small solar power plants on their own land. These plants connect to the grid and produce clean electricity. Each plant can generate up to two megawatts of power.
-
Component B – Workers install standalone solar pumps for irrigation in rural areas. These solar pumps replace expensive diesel engines used by farmers. This change helps reduce fuel costs and lowers carbon emissions.
-
Component C – Farmers convert existing grid pumps to run on solar energy. They use the sun to power all their irrigation needs. Any extra electricity is sold back to the local grid.
